Where I'm From
I am from graveyard shifts and 12 hour work days
From a beautiful country across the sea
From a time of war, fighting for freedom
From taking care of two kids by yourself,
Until that war was over
From early car rides to school
From help with sports
From discipline when needed
From struggles and perseverance
From lessons learned and memories made
From having fun, rain or shrine
From dealing with grief
From loving and caring
I am from the people shaped me into the person I am today,
my parents.

Hi Eljhon,
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed reading your “where I’m from” blog post. You sound like a very motivated and hardworking person. It is very impressive all the responsibilities you have and have taken on. I am sure working 12-hour graveyard shifts is quit exhausting. I am going to nursing school and I anticipate it being difficult to get use to such long shifts, especially at night. It sounds like you are probably very busy with work and your family life. I imagine it must be difficult taking care of everyone while your husband is over seas. Despite the craziness life dishes out sometimes, you seem to have a positive outlook and keep moving forward. Nice that is sounds like you have a loving family who is there for you. When things get crazy, it’s nice to have a strong support system you can rely on. Hope you and your family are well.
Elijhon,
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for sharing! You seem to have lived a very interesting life (especially from the looks of your pictures - loved these additions)!
Your piece was very relatable because my parents also played a very pivotal part of making me who I am. I think for most people, whether they grow up with their parents or not it shapes them. It is all a lesson or a means to grow, and it is important to recognize those key characteristics that make us, us. The experiences and events that occur during our lifetime often times make us stronger, and I think you understand that!
I really enjoyed this read!
